Why designers still use Lorem Ipsum
Lorem Ipsum is scrambled, non-meaningful Latin-derived text used as filler in designs and layouts since the 1960s. The point is that it looks like normal reading text — with typical word and sentence lengths — without the reader's eye getting drawn to the actual meaning, which keeps early-stage attention on the layout itself rather than the copy.
It's derived from a genuine passage of Cicero's "De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (45 BC), but scrambled and altered enough that it isn't grammatically meaningful Latin anymore — that's intentional, so it doesn't accidentally read as real content.
It's meant purely as temporary placeholder text during design — always replace it with real content before anything goes live, since visitors (and search engines) expect actual, meaningful text.
